BFT Gate Access Control in Dallas: What to Know First

We repair and install BFT gate access control systems across Dallas as an independent service provider, which means we’re not tied to BFT corporate pricing or parts lead times. Most BFT keypad, remote, phone entry, and card reader issues are diagnosed and repaired in a single visit, with a written price handed to you before any work begins. Depending on the failure, you’re typically looking at $185 to $480 for a control board replacement, $140 to $320 for a keypad or receiver swap, and $90 to $220 for a diagnostic visit that gets credited toward the repair if you proceed.

This page is for Dallas homeowners who already have BFT gate automation on the property and need the access side of it brought back to life. If your BFT keypad stopped accepting codes, your remote only works from ten feet away, or your phone entry box is dead, you’re in the right place. Call (469) 299-5902 and a live person picks up, any hour.

How BFT Products Fail - and How We Fix Them

  • BFT Rigel 5 and Rigel 6: phantom keystrokes and dropped codes. These keypads are common on Dallas driveway gates because they’re flush-mounted and survive direct sun better than most. The failure we see most often is a worn membrane under the faceplate. In North Dallas, where gates face west, UV breaks down that membrane faster than BFT’s wear ratings suggest. Codes register twice, or the keypad ignores the first digit. We replace the membrane and reseal the enclosure gasket so the next decade doesn’t repeat in three years.
  • BFT Mitto receivers: range collapse from antenna corrosion. The Mitto 2 and Mitto 4 external receivers have a thin steel whip antenna. In Dallas, our summer humidity mixed with sprinkler overspray corrodes the antenna base at the antenna connector. Range drops from 60 feet to about 8. The fix is usually reterminating the antenna and sealing the connection with dielectric compound, not replacing the receiver. That’s a $90 repair on a part most companies quote at $180 to replace.
  • BFT Clonix rolling-code receivers dropping remotes after a power surge. North Texas thunderstorms are rough on gate electronics. When a nearby lightning strike inductions the low-voltage control wire, the Clonix receiver often forgets every remote enrolled. Homeowners assume the remotes died and order new ones. We re-enroll the existing remotes in the field, then add surge suppression on the control board’s 24V feed so the next storm doesn’t erase them again.
  • Deimos BT control boards locking out the keypad after a brownout. The Deimos BT is a solid board, but it doesn’t like dirty power. When Oncor has a brownout and the gate’s transformer keeps feeding it sagging voltage, the board can enter a protection state that disables the keypad input while leaving the safety inputs active. You’ll see the gate refuse to open from the keypad but still respond to the button inside the garage. We reset the board, verify the capacitor health, and on older installs we replace the transformer. There’s no repair-without-diagnosis shortcut on this one, and charging you for a new board first is the wrong order of operations.
  • BFT Thalia and Thalia Light photocells tripping after heavy wind. The Thalia series uses reflective photocells on many Dallas installations. After a wind event, the reflector post on the opposite side of the driveway can shift by a degree or two. The gate starts, then reverses, and the board logs an obstruction. It looks like an access control problem because the keypad seems to trigger the fault. We realign the reflector, torque the mount, and photograph the alignment so anyone who works on the gate later knows what was set where.

Our BFT Gate Access Control Process

Our BFT Gate Access Control Process

Here’s how a BFT access control job goes with us, step by step:

  1. 1
We listen, then we look. Before we dispatch, we ask what the gate does when it ignores a command: does it click, does the board light, does the keypad beep? That tells us whether we’re chasing a power issue, a programming issue, or a failed component. We bring the likely parts on the van, not a blank work order.
  2. 2
On site, we document the symptom. Adrian Vance started this company after years on commercial access control sites, where every panel had a wiring diagram and every call had a log. We still work that way. We photograph the board as we found it, note the LED states, and read the fault log if the board stores one. You see what we saw.
  3. 3
We hand you the price in writing before we touch a tool. No ‘call for a quote.’ The Haven Standard Clause 1 exists because gate access control work is full of surprises, and surprises should be ours to manage, not yours to pay for. If the price changes, it changes in writing with your okay first.
  4. 4
Parts decision: OEM when it matters, quality aftermarket when it doesn’t. On safety critical components and control boards, we use BFT original parts. On peripheral items like receivers, keypad membranes, and external antennas, a proven aftermarket part is often the same component BFT private-labels, at a lower price. We tell you which is which, what the trade-off is, and what we’d put on our own gate.
  5. 5
We set it, test it, and cycle it repeatedly. Every BFT job ends with a full-function test: keypad entry, remote from the BFT-specified range on the product sheet, safety edge or photocell response, and the manual release. We photograph the settings and the final positions.
  6. 6
You get the evidence. Before we leave, you receive a photo log of every adjustment and a written record of each part number installed. If the gate acts up in six months, the next technician knows what was done. If that next technician is us, we don’t rediscover what we already knew.

What BFT Gate Access Control Costs in Dallas

Straight numbers. Here’s what we see across Dallas service calls on BFT access control equipment:

  • Diagnostic visit (credited toward repair): $90 – $220 depending on drive distance and whether we’re pulling the control box apart or reading codes off a board.
  • Keypad replacement (membrane or full unit): $140 – $320. A Rigel 5 membrane runs lower; a full weatherized keypad with metal fascia runs higher.
  • Receiver repair or replacement (Mitto, Clonix): $120 – $260. Antenna retermination and seal is the low end; a new receiver with re-enrollment is the high end.
  • Control board replacement (Deimos, Thalia, others): $185 – $480 including labor. The board itself is the variable; Deimos BT boards cost less than the larger Deimos Ultra boards on sliding gates.
  • Phone entry or video intercom integration: $240 – $680 depending on whether you’re adding a new access method or replacing dead hardware.

What moves the number: whether the enclosure is still watertight (a corroded box adds cleanup time), board availability, and how old the installation is. A 2009 BFT install with degraded wiring may need a wiring harness refresh on top of the visible component. We write all of this before we start. Why Dallas Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Dallas for BFT Work

Why Dallas Homeowners Call Vance Gate Repair Dallas for BFT Work

Because we show you the work. We’ve repaired and installed more than 22,000 gates since 2014, and every single visit leaves with a written price agreed before the job and a photo record handed over when the job is done. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers every completed repair: if it’s not right, we make it right, no argument, no fee, no expiration within that year.

We also know that BFT is one motor on a property that might have a LiftMaster keypad, a Mighty Mule receiver, a Ghost Controls remote, or a DoorKing phone entry unit. We service all of them. No one from Vance Gate Repair Dallas will walk onto your driveway with a bias toward replacing a repairable BFT board just because another brand is easier to source.

And a live person answers at (469) 299-5902, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. No attendant, no voicemail, no ‘we’ll call you back within one business day.’ At 2 a.m. when your gate won’t close and the dog is loose in the yard, that matters.
