Which FAAC Models This Applies To

The parts that fail structurally on FAAC systems in Dallas are not motor internals; they’re the steel connecting the operator to the gate and the gate to the post. In that case, an OEM bracket doesn’t solve the problem; a fabricated, reinforced mount does. Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate sags on the latch side but the hinges look tight. A cracked weld at the top hinge tab opens under load. The hinge bolt is fine; the steel around it is not. That crack widens every cycle until the gate leans into the post and the motor strains against the added drag.
• The FAAC operator mounts are loose but the bolts won’t tighten. The bolt holes in the gate frame or post have wallowed out oval from the gate moving against a failed weld. Tightening the bolts just pulls the bracket deeper into wasted metal.
• You hear the motor working but the gate barely moves, especially in one direction. The fork bracket or clevis pin has worn enough to create slop in the drive train. The motor strokes halfway before the gate starts moving, and the limit switches can’t compensate.
• Fresh rust staining runs down from a hinge or bracket, with flaking metal around it. Rust colored runoff from the joint, not just surface oxidation on the face of the steel. That tells us the weld or the bracket has been cracked long enough for moisture to get inside the join.
• The gate scrapes the driveway when it’s hot but clears when it’s cool. Thermal expansion of the steel frame plus a fatigued weld lets the gate drop in summer heat. Dallas sees 100-degree swings between January and August, and that movement eventually shears the weld entirely.
